1. CONFIDENTIALITY is very important. All names, locations, and other vital information is to be kept confidential unless specifically discussed otherwise. Breaking this policy will result in immediate and permanent termination as a member of MIGS.

2. No member shall perform any investigation using the name MIGS without the approval of MIGS founders and at least one team leader present. (We can not prevent members from conducting their own investigations, however, in order to make this group work, we need to work as a team and not everyone going in their own directions).

3. During an investigation, all members must have their membership card on them at all times, as well as a photo ID. In addition, a written "permission to investigate" form will be held by one of the team leaders. (All of the above in case anyone, including law enforcement, question who we are and why we are at that particular location). Investigation membership cards will be returned to team leaders at the end of the investigation at returned to members at the start of the next investigation.

3. RESPECT. All members are to respect everyone in the group. We may not always agree or see eye-to-eye, but respect is necessary. MIGS members are expected to respect the property of others (locations that we investigate as well as equipment of the team members).

4. VANDALISM, LITTERING, etc. will NOT be tolerated by MIGS. Any destruction of property by ANYONE will be reported by MIGS team leaders to the proper authorities.

5. CEMETERIES. Remember, people have buried their loved ones here! Just because we many not know anyone buried in a cemetery does not mean that we should treat it with any less respect than if we did have loved one there. NO LEANING on headstones,...no using headstones as a table for equipment, etc. Be respectful.!!!

6. NO SMOKING during an investigation. A smoking area will be designated prior to the start of the investigation in which smokers will be allowed to take "smoke breaks". Cigarette butts should be properly disposed of and not discarded on the ground (remember - respect other people's property & no littering!)

7. NO ALCOHOL or ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES. No one will ever be allowed on an investigation under the influence of alcohol or an illegal substance, nor will they be allowed to have it in their possession.

8. NEVER INVESTIGATE ALONE. Because of safety, if the team is split into groups it will be at least groups of two and never anyone by themselves.

9. All evidence collected in an investigation WILL be shared with the team leaders for analysis. It will become the property of MIGS. This is to prevent our members from sharing their evidence with other online groups in which they are also members.

10. ANY issue, disagreement, etc. needs to be discussed with a MIGS team leader, and the team leader will work out the problem. Please, if you have a problem with someone on the team or the way that they are conducting themselves, do not address it yourself. A team leader will resolve the issue.

11. MIGS, from time to time, may work with other paranormal groups during an investigation. ALL members of MIGS will respect other groups that we work with. They have rules that they go by, and prior to any investigation with another team, MIGS will review their rules and abide by them as well as our own. Any issue that arises in dealing with another team MUST be brought to a MIGS team leader and that team leader will discuss the issue with a team leader of the group we are working with.

12. Use COMMON SENSE!!

13. Violations of any rules listed above will result in immediate termination of membership, access to equipment, and any association with MIGS.

MIGS founders reserve the right to add, delete, and edit rules of conduct as they see fit.

Job duties & descriptions

FounderMembers of MIGS that formed the group. MIGS was founded in April 2006. Individuals involved in the formation of this group that meet MIGS requirements, abide by group regulations, and have a good membership standing within the MIGS group. Only current members involved in the formation of the group will be listed as a founder or co-founder. Any person or persons who has had their membership with MIGS terminated or revoked will no longer hold the title as founder or co-founder.

Lead Investigator: A lead investigator is a team member that oversees field investigations to ensure that everyone is performing their assigned tasks, abiding by the rules and standards set forth by MIGS, and to make sure that the field investigation goes as planned.

Investigator: A team member that helps collect and record information and evidence during a field investigation. All investigators will report any findings to a lead investigator.

Investigator in training: A team member that is learning the process of a field investigation. They will have to attend and help with investigations before being upgraded to an investigator, which will be at the digression of the Founders, by vote. If the investigative team is split into smaller groups to cover the area being investigated, an investigator in training MUST be working with an investigator or lead investigator. Investigators in training may never work alone with other investigators in training on a field investigation. NO EXCEPTIONS.

NOTE: A member must meet the requirements of an active member to be able to accompany MIGS on a field investigation, unless otherwise approved in advance by vote of the founders.

Guest investigator: A person that accompanies MIGS on a field investigation. Duties will be the same as an investigator in training with the same rules and guidelines (unless otherwise approved in advance by vote of the founders). A guest member may only attend 3 investigations with MIGS within 1 year period. After such time limit has been fulfilled, the guest will be required to fill out a membership application to join MIGS, or will not be allowed to attend another field investigation until after a waiting period of 1 year has expired.

NOTE: Team members from other paranormal groups attending a field investigation as a guest of MIGS will not be restricted to the number of investigations they may attend with MIGS. Each investigation on which they assist will be by invitation from the founders of MIGS, making the requirement to become a member unnecessary, as they are assisting MIGS in the investigation.

Active member: An active member is a member that attends investigations and monthly meetings. If a members fails to attend 2 consecutive meetings, they will be demoted to an inactive member, unless otherwise agreed upon by vote of Founders.

Inactive member: An inactive member is a member who has not been actively involved in meetings and investigations. An inactive member may remain such for a period of 6 months, until which time their membership shall be revoked. Once a member has lost their membership, they will be allowed to reapply as a member, with the status of “probationary member”.

Probationary member: A member that has had their membership revoked and wished to return as an active member of MIGS. Probationary members will be on probation for a period of 6 months before being allowed to return to their previous status.

NOTE: A member can hold the status as a probationary member only one time. If, at that time, membership has again been revoked, reinstatement of membership will be banned for a period of 3 years. If after 3 years the individual is interested in becoming a member again, it will be taken under the advisement of the founders and all other members for a group vote. If MIGS votes to allow the person to become a member of MIGS again, they will start out as an investigator in training. If the member is again removed of their membership status for a second time, they will be banned for any further investigations, meetings, and membership from MIGS for life. NO EXCEPTIONS. We want members that are serious about MIGS and will not tolerate misconduct or people that are not as serious as the rest of the team.

Voting member: At MIGS monthly meeting, voting members will be allowed to vote on issues discussed. All active members will have a vote. Probationary members will not be allow. If there is a tie, the Founders will make the final decision. If for some reason the founders feel that the majority vote is not in the best interest of MIGS, a private Founders meeting will be called to settle the issue. ALL members and Founders will be accountable for their vote. The results of a Founder’s vote will be made known to the other members of MIGS. When a decision is voted and approved, it is final. Personal views and opinions are to be put aside once a decision has been made. When voting, please vote for what is in the best interest of MIGS at it’s members, not what is in the best interest for YOU.

Research/Historian: A member that researches the history of an area that MIGS is planning to investigate. (If applicable) the researcher will conduct interviews, as necessary, to gain as much knowledge about the location to better inform the investigative team of the history of the location.

NOTE: Reports of paranormal activity and details of the paranormal activity of a location WILL NOT be shared with the entire investigative team prior to an investigation. This will prevent the team from any bias opinions/feelings during the investigation. After the investigation, it will be the digression of the founders as to how much of the history will be shared with the rest of the team. Once the investigation is considered closed, a full report will be available for viewing by all members of MIGS

Public Relations: The member (or members) that speak personally with the proper owner/caretaker/authority figure to obtain written permission for MIGS to perform an investigation. The public relations person(s) will work under the advisement of the Founders.

Equipment Technician: The member/members responsible for any technical problems with equipment. Also, they will assist new members (investigators in training) the proper procedures in using MIGS equipment.

Analyst: A group of team members selected after each investigation to go through all evidence collected. They are required to take notes and share any findings with the founders - who will analyze the evidence found before turning it over to a consultant for further study.

Online member: A person that is ONLY a member of the MIGS Yahoo! Group. Online members are not members of MIGS. They are only open to discussion at the Yahoo! Group page. THEY ARE NOT privileged to the information obtained before, during and after ANY investigation. They are not bound to our confidentiality agreement, as they are NOT MEMBERS OF MIGS - so do not discuss ANY information with online members pertaining to MIGS or MIGS investigations. The Yahoo! Group for MIGS was established ONLY to get our name out there and to discuss paranormal activity (in general) with others interested in the same field.

Consulting member/Analyst: A member that is not an active member. They will have not necessarily know the location, history, etc. of an investigation. A consulting member/analyst is not required to attend meetings or investigations. Their primary duty is to help the Founders analyze evidence obtained on an investigation. They will help review any evidence MIGS obtains, giving their opinion as to whether or not they believe it is anything paranormal. They will also, with an open mind, help the team try to come up with a logical explanation before concluding whether or not the evidence is or is not something paranormal. Consulting members will be approved by the Founders ONLY. Not all consulting members names will be shared with general members of MIGS - this is to help preserve their opinions and prevent influence by members that attend investigations.

Skeptic/Debunker:  To help MIGS find reasonable, logical, and natural explanations to evidence, personal experiences, and reports of possible paranormal activity.

ALL MEMBERS of ANY STATUS are encouraged to make suggestions of locations in which MIGS can investigate. REMEMBER CONFIDENTALITY, and to follow the rules & guideline established in the “Rules of Conduct” established by MIGS.

After an investigation, evidence will be reviewed. Once a investigation is closed, findings and evidence will be shared will all team members at the following monthly meeting (as well as shared with property owner, if applicable).

Founders reserve the right to edit, add, or delete this list of job duties and descriptions as they see fit.
